Created with acrylic paint, natural pigments as well as sand and reclaimed fishing rope

The artwork’s distinct texture was created using black sand from Brittas Bay and reclaimed netting, which I collected during a winter swim on Clonea Bach, County Waterford.

I go down to the shore in the morning

and depending on the hour the waves

are rolling in or moving out,

and I say, oh, I am miserable,

what shall—

what should I do? And the sea says

in its lovely voice:
